This coin was found in a 1K bag, several weeks ago.  I initially thought it a struck thru grease, circulated to EF+, 1922 High Relief Proof.  My kids spent my collection coins for candy, many years ago, why not?  Off to PCGS for error certification.  Results back today!

And, believe it or not, I am now further convinced that this Peace gal is, in fact, a circulated proof..

Thoughts anyone?

I'd sure like to see a pic of it. I've always been somewhat fascinated with the 1922 and 1921 matte proofs. Most 1921 dollars are so poorly struck it's sad but to see a true, fully struck Peace Dollar is a sight to behold!

 Embarrassed

Well...Fully struck is NOT a term I would use to describe this gal!

Circulation wear to EF, for sure.  And, with the struck thru grease, ouch!

Nothing nice about her...  It's just that my "gut" was that she was odd enough to
deserve some other than run of the mill description, and recalling proofs were made
this year, I just gave it a shot.  I wish that the nice folks at PCGS had felt some gut
feeling(s) as well..  It was just too easy for someone down there to ignore it's
strangeness, and rather than keep it longer, they called it questionable...., as in
it's a fake, let's move on?

If the owner of the coin will agree, I want to send it to Carl for his opinion(s) and
photography skill, and afterwards I am certain Carl will post the pics here.

Best I can do...

Carl, I hope I am not overstepping the limits here, but there is a thread on the PCGS boards about a seller having an NCS 1922 High Relief in XF Details-Polished.
NOT a good looking coin, but still asking $49,500!!!!!

On another note, I see PCGS has come up with another great 'disclaimer'......"Questionable Authenticity"
Aren't they the experts? It either is or it isn't.

Ah, don't get me started.  Lips sealed

 Cry

Unfortunately, the owner of the Peace gal wanted it returned soonest.  I did not
even open it up, just repackaged it, and returned it to the owner.

The owner, for anyone who might be really interested in this gal, as a novelty, or
fake collection addition, has a website called "oldmint.com" recently moved from Carson City, NV, and now located in Modesto, CA.  The snow was just too much to manage another year...   Joel Mitchell..  He has a brother who owns SilverState Coins, in Reno,
NV.. On 1st St., I believe?  I dunno.. I have never visited that shop.  Both guys, Tony
(Reno) and Joel (Modesto) are knowledgable, honest, and will let you rummage in the back room, once you've become a known "pest" to them...

I oughta get something for this post..... Roll Eyes
