I like gold and got a kick out of this new coin. It is a 1998 $1 gold coin from Palau.

The only problem with it is it is too small! Smiley The $1 coins are 1/20 ounce.

Hey, I have a note here saying this is the only example certified by PCGS. Does anybody know if that is still the case?

Carl,
Although Palau is an independent republic, the American Dollar is legal tender there.

All the Palauan issues are medal-coins,just like the Marshall Islands ones are.

Did you see the series of 'Survivor' that was in Palau? I did.

I'm enjoying 'Survivor Samoa' these days.

Thanks to fellow forum member Bubblehead who suggested I add this coin to my inventory over at the PCGS registry set website. I did that then selected a link labeled "view coin" and saw that stats. None graded higher! None lower! It looks to be the only PCGS graded coin of this type, or at least this date.  Cool
