I like 'em. Just picked up a set. I've got 59 different dollars from 1983 to 2009. All PCGS proof 69 Deep Cameo.

Anybody want to see any photos? If any wiseguy says "sure I want to see them all" or something to that effect I will just take my own sweet time posting one or two photos at a time. If anybody wants to see one (or two) particular coins I will take those photos first.

We were speaking of differences in eagles on various coins. I think a montage of the various eagles taken only from the modern proofs might be nice. There are a bunch of different ones...

Here is a list of what I picked up:

Yeah, but, it's already in a MS 69 holder! Smiley I guess I need to look around for something to send...

I really like Deep Cameo contrast. I was seduced by the beauty and scarcity of really deep cameo 1950s proofs. And many of these modern proof commems look good.

Contrary to my prejudice I tend to like the "uncirculated" modern commems even more. To me the care, strike and finish prove they are not business strikes. The "MS" commems produce many in the grade of 70 and most are 68 or higher. True they are nothing like deep cameo. So I call them matte proof or satin proof. What does NGC sometimes call coins like this? SP? Oh, yeah, specimen. Not a great name. I guess the services don't want to introduce more than one look for proofs.

Anyway these are nice, big, silver coins where the design pops out from the background. On many of them though there is too much device and not enough background.

So do you all prefer proof or MS when it comes to choosing your modern commems?
