New to me at least. I don't use cash as much as I used to and many stores don't give out cents, they round up the change to the nearest nickel.

That looks like an older one, the newer ones have a shield on the reverse. I have picked up 3 in change so far. Also, 2 '10 dimes and one quarter.

Shar was given a Denver Shield in change, yesterday; from the base commissary.

Many, many, tiny spots... B/sides.  Kinda as though a half dozen drunken Scotsmen sneezed
over it, while adjusting kilts!     Tongue

I found my first shield cent (see attached). I don't get many cents in change anymore, many stores just round to the nearest nickel. This was found on the ground. I guess not many people bother to pick up cents anymore either. It is pretty damaged so will get deposited in our "spare change" savings account.

We save our change. I look through them for pre-'82 cents, the ultra rare silver finds and I hoard all nickels. The rest gets rolled up and deposited into a savings account. We have a separate account that has had no deposits other than change. It is $700 now! Interest helps but is only a few cents here and there...

Not long ago, Carl began hoarding 1973-S proof nickels!  1969-S proof nickels are worth hoarding, I believe, as well!  Wink

I kinda like nickels. I began hording them when the nickel content in a nickel was worth 7 cents. Now it is worth less than a nickel again. I don't go out of my way to buy them or anything, but I do save every one I come across.
