So far as of today I have received just 2 quarters with the parks designation and I still have 5 state quarters needed for the D collection. They just don't get this far north for some reason. I think people in Mass. are picking them out of circulation so we here in Maine can't have any.

You are still ahead of me. I haven't gotten any parks quarters yet. My wife doesn't help; since she doesn't like to use cash for anything I have less change to sort through.
Most of the mint marks I see are D. I don't think the flat landers are hoarding your D mint coins, they just get released out west and it takes a while for the coins to co-mingle.

Don't feel bad LaserArt. You're two coins ahead of me out here in California as I have yet to see ANY National Parks quarters!
Here's whats happening:
Unlike the State Quarters Program where Local Banks could order specific State quarters from their local federal reserve, local banks CANNOT order these coins as they are released. So, assuming that the Feds use a Last In First Out approach of cycling their inventory, it could be years before these coins show up on a regula basis.
The only way to circumvent this process is to order your rolls directly from the US Mint and pay their silly surcharges!
This is perhaps why these quarters are so difficult to find.

They are unimportant enough to me that I will not order any from the mint. I have people looking for them for me. One day I went to the car wash and got $10 in quarters from the change machine and there were enough state quarters to make an almost complete collection up to that point.

Anybody happen to notice that the price of the $25 bags went up by $15?
From $35.95 to $49.95
Any hopes of me, as a US Mint customer, buying one went out with the price increase.

It must be the hike in cotton to make the bags.
