I just realized I'm a member of a dozen or more coin forums.  Shocked

The PCGS forums are fast moving and some knowledgeable people post there. I dislike how PCGS censors posts and threads. That has driven away many knowledgeable and helpful posters like Mark Feld to name just one of many. Many interesting and exciting posters have been banned like Laura Sperber. This winnowing of opinion leads to the Kool-Aid effect. Almost everybody who remains likes PCGS best and thinks PCGS knows best.

The NGC forums also have a lot of experienced specialists and dedicated dealers. There is an anti Kool-Aid tendency there. Some banned or voluntary PCGS forum refugees hang there and are quick to point out PCGS's mistakes. The NGC forum is powered by software that is slow. Compare their software to ours and you will agree ours is ultra fast.

Both PCGS and NGC forums have some passionate collectors and experienced dealers as members. They also have people who frequent both places. In any case you can get your question answered in either place.

Be sure to wear your flack jacket while in the PCGS forum though as you'll never know when you might need it!  Grin

How very true!  A sea story...please...  In 2003 I submitted a proof set for grading. The Kennedy half was returned as PR69.. Yeah...I know what happened.. A new grader, used to the old ways, was not aware of Deep Cameo. My coins, and another members coins, slipped by a verifier.  I brought up my grading case to the coin forum.. Hark,
another member chimed in..His Kennedy was also PR69... Apparently, having a couple too many beers, called to complain...  Later that evening, I rec'd a phone call, 8:30 pm, from some PCGS customer svc weenie, yellin' at me for "airing out dirty laundry...?"
He was very, very, upset with me... I hung up on him...  Tough!  I am guessing that the other fellow with the PR69 half sent it back... To this day, I have the only one of them
certified as PR69.. Pop 1/0. Moral of my sea story? You can be ambushed by anyone, over there...

The coin talk forums are really good too, I most often post there. They have really grown lately in popularity and there is some very good posts there, I made a couple on how to spot whizzed coins, alterations and counterfeit detection.

I've been wondering how long it will take the Chinese to come up with counterfeit mirror sites of the TPGs.

I say this only partly in jest, with both TPG's dependent upon their sites for verifying their coins it is not out of the realm of possibilty.

I've been an NGC forum poster for years and have only been on CU forum for 1 1/2 years. I like both for different reasons. CU forum gives you many replies in a short matter of time if your post is interesting or pertinent, while the NGC forum gives great replies only in a far longer time periiod. Most replies on the NGC forum are from knowledgeable people and must be sorted on the PCGS forum. Not much flaming on NGC but quite a lot on PCGS, as stated previously. Unless your post is truly derogatory or very ugly does the moderator act on the NGC board, but poof is nearly a weekly occurence on the PCGS boards. Maybe due to the larger traffic. All in all, I hope everyone continues to use both boards and they grow to the benefit of the hobby.
