I just picked a handful of strawberries. These are the tiny, little ones.  The Alpine strawberries. They taste great. They are all flavor. Also plums are simply jumping off the branch.  Shocked Tomatoes are still very green so a few weeks at best.

Are you all getting anything?

 Cry

Our two tomato plants went nutso, producing a huge number of small green fruit...

Unfortunately, as they grew larger (ping pong ball size), the bottoms of the fruit

turned brown, and they soon fell off...  Some fungus?  We've never before experienced

such a blight....

We have had excellent luck with tomatoes until this year.  We use half-barrels, from a
Napa winery.  Perhaps the soil needs a complete change out?

Anyone have a diagnosis?

I had that last year on 2 plants. That brown on the bottom was a sign of calcium deficiency I was told. So I put 50 lbs of gypsum and mixed it throughout my garden beds. I also buried bones under each plant. Smiley I but bones in the compost heap but they never seem to disappear. When they get all dried out I save 'em. Know I know why.

 Shocked

The nice nursery lady, at OSH, recommended a package of something, the
main ingredient being "lime.."  And, she asked (why?) what, if anything had
we planted in the barrel previous to the tomato?  Shar responded, a dwarf
mayer lemon.  It croaked after 3 seasons.

Aha...  Grin  The nice lady acted surprised. Leaving Shar with a feeling that the
little lemon tree was at fault?

She also recommended that we replace all of the soil in the barrel, before planting
anything new, next spring....

Jeez..  I think we'll just shop for our tomatoes next year.
