I have a water problem I'd like to discuss. My pump keeps cycling on/off every few minutes.

I think I know what it is and it isn't the submersible pump. I'll hold off saying what I think it is until later on.

I've been known to show crack while bending over, Does that count? My Father in law is a union plumber/pipefitter. I could relay a question to him if you like.

If you have a submersible pump, you also have a water tank. The air in you tank is gone, you may be able to recharge it, but if the baffle is shot, you will need a new tank. Been there, done that.

This is what I think is happening. I think there could be a split in the water line coming from the pump to the pitless adapter. Then all the water runs out and back down the well. I can see this happening in my water filter, running in reverse I mean. Then when the pressure is drawn down in the tank it calls for more water from the pump. It happens every 6 minutes.
Either there is a split or there should have been a check valve at the top of the pump and I would have installed one except I was told that particular pump had a built in valve.
So to remedy this situation I need to pull the pump up and check the water line AND install a check valve for my own satisfaction.

Sheesh!  That's nothing more than a typical A-gang submarine engine room job! Wink

It really isn't a difficult fix. However there would be rusty colored water for a few days from disturbing everything that is in the well. But it is a 2 man job.
