I guess you need rain if you want to see rainbows. As we were driving home was saw a faint rainbow. It grew in size. The colors became more and more pronounced. The rainbow increased in size, then we saw another, it was the other half of the arch. Then they joined up for the biggest, most intense, complete, incredible rainbow I've ever seen. There was even a shadow, 2nd rainbow higher and in back of this one. Wow!

Here in the northeast most rainbows occur in the east. Storms generally move west to east so in order to see the rainbow the sun needs to be in the west. One morning at daybreak we were camping up near the Canadian border and a rain shower was nearing from the west. This time the orange sunrise made an orange rainbow to the west,many different shades of yellow and orange and nothing else for color it was awesome. I took several pictures of it with my digital camera but for the life of me I cannot find it anywhere.
