While eating breakfast I watched dozens of birds eating berries. They were swooping down from their perches to gobble up berries from some bushes. They would eat a few then fly back up into one of the big trees. I didn't have my glasses so wasn't sure what kind of birds they were. They were at least two different kinds. They were about the sizes of Robins and Sparrows.

It was fun watching them, they were very active!

There are a couple of breakfast spots in D.C. where you watch similar behavior from lobbyist pecking at various pieces of legislation.

The larger birds could have been grosbeaks, the others could have been ummm, well, sparrows.

Sounds exactly as a grosbeak will do!  How interesting they are found in any numbers,
and at your location, Carl!  I must recheck my information....
