Two people from other places said how wonderful the weather was here! One was from rainy Seattle; he flew in last night for a meeting at our office. The other moved to a suburb 50 miles from here where it is usually very hot (Walnut Creek) - he came from the upper Sierras where it is normally cool - and was servicing our ultra fancy hot/cold/filtered water dispenser. My co-workers and I were complaining our brief summer weather, which started two weeks ago, is now over. I guess it is all relative!

This morning it is 48 degrees and as many clouds as there are patches of sunshine. The leaves are turning colors now as you would expect for a northern New England area. I like this time of year.

I remember really enjoying a crisp Fall day with the leaves turning colors. I lived in N.H. for a year and did enjoy the changing seasons.

 Cool

Having lived 4 years in New England too, I can say with a straight face that there
have been days that I found myself missing the first signs of autumn; cool, crisp,
days, myriad trees changing colors...couple remaining weekend drives thru the countryside,
enjoying the wonderful scenery, and then,   ....and then, the first snowfall!

Ahhhh..Ella Grasso's first term as Governor was something to remember!  First
woman in charge, and the worst snow storm in the states history!  Together, a
memorable winter!

The trees are turning colors but they are not as bright and the color seems a little "off" this year. We had a dry and hot summer so that could have something to do with it. 57 degrees this morning and will get close to 80 this afternoon.

 Cry
Speaking of trees turning colors....    Directly across the street is  planted a great Liquid Amber.
At the time we bought, the supe offered us a free tree. I did not want a
tree in the front yard.  I did not know what a liquid amber was, anyway.  I thanked him, and
because it was free, took it anyway, and promptly gave it to my neighbor...yup..across the street.

The nursery guy who came out 6 mos later to tell me it needed some PH adjustment, said
he sold a similar tree for $150.00.  Wow.. I added some white stuff to the ground, lots of
fertilizer (BTW, my neighbor worked in Reno and was seldom home..His wife was a school
teacher, was also seldom home, and knew nothing about green stuff..) I nursed that darn tree,
I even (when we still smoked) saved cig butts, soaked them in water, and sprayed the tree
with tobacco water to get rid of mites, and some fungus?  It worked... The tree grew, and grew..

My neighbor and his wife, now nearly 14 years later, recently lost the house.  It's been vacant for 3 months.
The water was cut off immediately.  I tired of lugging buckets of water across the street. The tree is dying now.
The leaves have turned, and it's because it's dying.

I feel horrible.  It's like losing one of my kids.. I hope it rains soon.

And so it goes.... Embarrassed
