Has anyone ever had summer homework?

Ok im in high school going to be a junior this year  I got my fcat scores in the mail and made a 3 ot of 5 on my reading and math (I dont see why they send it in the mail when we can just go online to look at our scores lol) but when I opened it up I had homework in there? so i called up a few of my friends to see if they have gotten anything because I wasnt sure if i was ust the lucky one and they said they had the packet of homework to but out of all my years in school they have never given us homework over the summer I think its the dumbest thing ever they want us to do 40 math question plus to read a whole book and then do a 2 story page on it and they want us to make a powerpoint or poster to go along with the book?

My daughter is going to be a senior. She gets the AP classes. All the honors and AP classes assign homework over the summer. This summer she has 5 serious books to read. A quiz on the first day back to school will test if students have read them or not.

Wow that really sucks I have a couple of ap classes this year.
