 Shocked

Wow...    Talk about something that, even tho it is sorta common, hardly anyone waits up
for, or prepares to view them...

I believe the last one observed, that was total? (maybe not) was while my ship was inport
Yokosuka, Japan... Sometime in 1963?  Sounds right, but....  The older I become, the less
I remember well.  Nothing new, tho... Typical old age thing...

I also believe it was a life changing experience for me...Although I've forgotten that, too!

Total lunar eclipses are fairly common. They last a long time. That is when the earth's shadow blocks out the full moon. It is neat watching the shadow creep across the moon.

Total solar eclipses are when the moon blocks out the sun. It happens at noon. The longest possible total solar eclipse is maybe 7 and a quarter minutes. Night creatures wake up and come out, day light ones head for bed. Some people, like me, get the bug. When you see one you start tracking them and plan to go to extremes to witness another.

I wrote up the story of when my best friend, Alex, and I drove from San Jose, CA 1,500 miles to Baja, Mexico to see one: Baja Eclipse. I'm a changed person for sure.
