There is a house in town here and the people that live there always put up strings and strings of lights in no  fashionable order just sort of however they nail 'em on. It's not even nice colors, pale blue and a pale green. I have to look away when I drive by so as not to irritate my eyes. I always tell my wife I am going to send them a letter telling them how awful it is, but I never do so I guess it's partly my fault.

We just got back from visiting my Dad in Ashland, OR for Thanksgiving. They light up the whole town. All along the main street each building is outlined in strings of modest white lights. All together it is quite an impressive display! My Dad's wife remarked how the few storefronts who used colored lights were messing things up. I guess some people just have to be different.

Sounds like those people need to put the "T" back in Christmas.

Displays are greatly a matter of taste, what I sometimes find gaudy my wife loves, what I like sometimes my wife feels is understated. Usually we agree upon which displays are naughty and which are nice though.
