or even a different used car? We have a 2001 Malibu that we purchased in 2004, gets great gas mileage at 28 mpg and is comfortable. My wife would like another car now until I remind her about having a payment again.

We had this plan on buying one new car every 3-4 years. Once we upgraded 2 of our cars the 3'rd would go to our daughter for college. With the recent depression our plans have changed.

Our 2000 van has 155K and is in serious need of replacement. It has had some big repairs with many little thing going un-fixed.

I just sold my 1999 Dodge Dakota R/T for almost $3,000. It had low mileage for its age but needed tires (at a minimum of $850), paint and work on the brakes.

Our "new" car is a 2006 Civic. My wife drives that, I drive the van. If the van breaks I'd rather be the one driving it.

Insurance is the killer with a teenage driver in the house. My fingers are crossed the van will survive until our daughter gets off to college (with a bicycle) this fall, then we will buy a new car.

I have full coverage on my Sierra including towing and collision, I pay $168 every 6 months. I have no drivers under age anymore so that helps.
