I have to join the NRA

not because I want to but I do want to join a rifle and pistol club and one of their requirements is that you are a member of the NRA. Also required if one wants to shoot in any matches. I guess it isn't the end of the world but I have not wanted to join the NRA because they never gave me the hat promised from the last time I joined. (and I asked repeatedly for it too)

I have been a member, off and on, for over 25 years.   When they have a
decent, and gotta be "eye poppin'" promotional freebie, I will generally
either renew, or rejoin...depending.  I did NOT renew this past year.

Rather, I sent a check to the American Legion for their membership.  I figured
that as I am retired military, their association might offer more.  My check was
cleared 29 April of this year.  I have yet to receive anything from them.  Nada.
No "Thanks & membership materials follow..." or did they have a huge influx of
membership applications and are snowed?  Perhaps they ran out of hats, too?  

I'm guessing that us old retired guys don't bring much to the table these days, and...?
Most singular, it sure seems as though an awful lot of aspiring political guys are claiming false
military awards....

Hmmmmm?  Makes a guy wonder, huh?
