The earth used to be a bubbling boiling land of volcanoes and now it isn't.

The number and magnitude of quakes is actually normal. Each year the earth has a 8+ magnitude quake, but often these occurr in low population areas, such as dense forsest, desert etc..

As a collector the biggest concern with "climate" change is if it is deemed man made (cough cough) then will the TPGers consider all coins AT then?

 Shocked

Ummm.. Just this morning, I noticed another earthquake headline...

A 7.2+ something, killing hundreds, somewhere in China?  Jeez....  'Ya know
something?  An awful lot of 7 pt something quakes, spread out all over the
planet, do seem unusual.  Anyone else notice this?  Within the past month, too.

 Shocked
OK.. Just saw headlines that a volcano has erupted in Iceland, melting a huge
200ft thick glacier, flooding a village, and forcing the evacuation of hundreds of
residents...
My, my... What else is there??

I just read an article in today's papers that says this is a normal # of quakes. Me, I still think that sounds fishy. The only place, of the places where earthquakes are common, that hasn't had a major quake this year is here on the US West Coast!  Shocked

 Cry

And, pessimist that I am, feel it's just a matter of time.  Not too much time, either.  It will make that last
one, dropping parts of the freeway traversing Oakland, and the one section of the Bay Bridge, seem like
my old Babushka, rocking me to sleep, as a babe...

 Shocked
It appears that today is the third day of reduced European jet aircraft flights.. I see that propeller driven acft are
not in danger of engine intakes clogging up with dust and debris from volcano ash. All of those old timers, offering
sight seeing flights in their old surplus gasoline engine aircraft are making a zillion dollars flying CEO's about...

Oh, hey... I see that the shuttle will soon leave space for earth.  I wonder if the atmospheric mess will affect
their return flight to earth?  Something to google, huh? There are four women in the returning crew. A historic
flight, for that alone!  My, my..  Women seem to have conquered space. I am now looking forward to similar
accomplishments in my old service, the submarine force!

I envision wondrous things ahead of us.... If mother earth allows it, that is....

  Tongue

 Shocked
Apparently, the clouds of volcanic dust & debris were still bad enough yesterday, to cause the USSS (Secret Svc) to
unfortunately, cancel President Obama's attendance at the Polish state funeral, honoring the recently deceased Polish
President, his wife, and many high level, Polish government, VIP's.  Alternate travel arrangements could easily have been
put into place! It's not like we've returned to the 30's, and the Spirit of Saint Louis our only remaining mode of transportation
avail to our Commander-in-Chief!  My, my... I surely hope the visit was really canceled due to emergent problems with
those alternate means of transportation.  Embarrassed
