We bid for a 3 1/2 star hotel in downtown LA. We were filled at $80. When we arrived there was no place to park. Valet parking was $40!!!! Can you imagine paying 50% more for a room if it includes parking? I drove around and parked at an Enterprise Car Rental parking lot for $16. Sheesh!
The night before we hit San Diego after midnight. The Hilton (another Priceline "win") said they didn't have a room for us! This after paying and calling twice to make sure they had a room for us, the last call being that very day in the afternoon. The good news is they gave us a room in their sister resort, Paradise Point, and waived the $25 parking charge. It was nicer but still we really didn't want to drive even that extra 5 minutes after such a long drive down from San Jose.
The lesson is when you bid for hotels on Priceline you must expect charges. This is not fair because different hotels may have different parking charges so the bids are not comparable. Boo Priceline.
