I was happy to see a frog in my backyard yesterday evening. I don't see many back there - can't remember ever having seen one - but it was a wet spring and I saw a healthy looking one. I thought of lightening bugs which someone was talking about and I haven't seen in 30 years since spending time in New Hampshire. Live Maine lobsters were $8.99 at the market and my wife said they were a few bucks cheaper 3 weeks back. Not bad for having taken an airplane ride across the country!

I think $8.99 is rather reasonable.  Too bad we couldn't buy them live, raise them a bit
at home, and when they have reached 5-6 lbs, well.....   eat 'em...

What do they eat?  A large tank work?  Are they like goldfish?  Will they grow to the
size of their surroundings?

Why am I responding to this post?

Is $8.99 per pound or each? They are $6.25 each here, 2 claw 1 1/4 lb.

Well, at $6.25 each, I am thinking that is an excellent price.  How much of that 1 1/4 lb of
creature is actually edible, tho?  Well, yeah... Some would eat everything. Some would
pick meat out of the toes...  I want claw meat...and just claw meat.

Aren't these critters shipped across country, alive?

Might be worth $625 to get 100 of 'em....    Hmmmm?  I'm getting hungry...

I prefer the tail, claws are ok too. Actually, it's all good! Right now most lobsters are soft shell and tho there is not as much meat it sure is easier to tear open the shell.

Yup, that is the per pound price. Naturally they will be fresher and cheaper at the source, still that is a decent price for lobsters who have taken an airplane ride 3,000 miles!

I had a salt water tank once. It is difficult and expensive to keep it running well. I'm not sure what lobsters eat but I understand it takes many years for them to get to 5 lbs!

Wow...  There was a small restaurant in Groton, CT., is was a popular lunch joint
with the shipyard workers from EB (Electric Boat Div).  Since I suffered two yard periods there,
I was pretty familiar with the area...   This restaurant had a preserved/stuffed? blue lobster, hanging
from one wall... It was huge. It weighed over 25lbs, too!   Maybe more.  Kinda scary.

I wonder how old that poor sucker was?
