As you all know by now I think energy is a major issue. The US needs to develop US energy sources. Major investments are needed in natural gas, nuclear and alternative energy.

One big source of energy is finally getting attention! Yup, I'm talking poop here. Cheap, small human waste composting systems provide cooking gas for remote villages in poor countries greatly improving their lives.

US dairy and feedlot operators have a huge problem dealing with waste from their cattle. Chicken and pig operations have similar problems. Sewage treatment plants also are getting overloaded.

Now that more attention is on farmers they are being required to spend money to prevent waste from polluting rivers and groundwater. It is right at the balancing point where it is economical for some operations to invest in energy producing systems.

Well I just read that poop is not currently considered a renewable resource! That is just plain crazy! There are subsidies, cheap loans and many other advantages available to people who invest in renewable energy. Poop must be classified as a renewable resource ASAP. Doing so will stimulate the economy, produce lots of energy from a resource that piles up daily and also help keep the environment clean.
